About the role: 

The Team leader Arboriculture will be responsible for maintaining the City of Ballarat’s unique Urban Forest. The team leader will work closely and provide on ground support to Arboriculture team whilst planning for future growth of City’s Urban Forest. 

 

 Key Responsibility Areas   

  • Supervise and maintain all Council trees using best industry practice.  
  • Supervise and support staff and contractor maintenance activities.  
  • Provide quality customer service in regard to all tree related requests. 
  • Provide input into tree risk assessments and implement appropriate tree management measures.  
  • Maintain asset management systems to record all activities associated with the City of Ballarat’s Tree Population  
  • Support Council’s plan to maintain, enhance and expand the tree data register.  
  • Compliance with the City of Ballarat’s Tree Management Plan and Road Management Plan   
  • Assist in the development and delivery of an increasingly proactive urban tree maintenance regime.   
  • Mentor and develop arboriculture staff to achieve best industry performance. 

 

About You: 

You'll have a minimum of 5 years' experience leading Arboriculture teams, a deep understanding of Arboriculture Minimum Industry Standards, and a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ). Business management qualifications.  

Local government experience is advantageous. 

 You will be proficient in tree identification, disease diagnosis, and plant function, with a strong focus on workplace health and safety. 

 You’ll have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to handle conflict with patience and professionalism. 

You'll hold a current Victorian Drivers Licence.
