The Role - 4 Year Term
The Manager Procurement provides leadership to Council through the Procurement, Accounts Payable and Stores teams in order to strategically contribute to the development and management of best practice and value for money outcomes. The role will provide expert advice across Council’s procurement, accounts payable and stores processes and ensure business needs are met by partnering with relevant stakeholders to provide expert advice and manage risk, improving business activities and performance.
This Leadership role has been developed following a strategic review of the organisation’s operations and has been designed to achieve best outcomes for the Cassowary Coast Region, our community, our organisation and the people that visit, live, work, do business and come to our region for enjoyment.
Council’s leadership team have several key focus areas: Community, Economy, Infrastructure, Region, and Organisation. Through these key focus areas and as part of the leadership team this role will drive effective work practices, a safe work environment and the transformation of culture, to develop and maintain an engaged work environment with a community and customer focus.
About You
You are an experienced professional with sound knowledge of local government procurement and contract administration or can demonstrate equivalent experience in a similar setting. Your understanding of Accounts Payable and Stores functions is well-developed, and you have a proven ability to lead and support a team while delivering high-quality customer service.
With strong written and verbal communication skills, you can engage effectively across all levels of an organisation. You are highly organised, able to manage your time and prioritise tasks to consistently meet deadlines.
You bring substantial experience in using accounting software such as Technology One, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. You work well both independently and collaboratively and thrive in team environments where shared outcomes are a priority.
