Governance and Insurance Officer

Isaac Regional Council is seeking a proactive and detail-driven person to join our dynamic Governance and Corporate Services team as a part-time, fixed-term Governance and Insurance Officer.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Governance and Insurance Officer, you will:
 

• Manage and coordinate the Council’s insurance portfolio (excluding Workers Compensation)
• Lead the insurance renewal process and ensure comprehensive coverage
• Handle claims management, including complex and disaster-related claims
• Provide expert advice on insurance matters and risk analysis
• Liaise with brokers, insurers, and internal stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies

• Salary: $46.01 per hour + Locality Allowance (CPI 4% Increase from 01/07/25)
• Part Time Hours: Negotiable for the right candidate
• Fixed Term Contract: until 30 November 2026
• Annual Leave: 5 weeks with 17.5% loading (pro rata for part time hours)
• Superannuation: Up to 14% in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement

ABOUT YOU
 

• Experience: Extensive experience and thorough understanding of insurance and claims management.
• Preferred Background: Experience in local government is advantageous but not essential
• Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service and to work within a multi-skilled team environment.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Technical Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Qualifications: Certificate/Tertiary Qualification in Insurance or Business Studies
