About the Role
The WHS and Injury Management Business Partner is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining workplace health and safety strategies, policies, and procedures. This role ensures compliance with WHS legislation while promoting a strong safety culture. Additionally, the role manages injury prevention and return-to-work programs, providing expert advice and support to employees and managers on work-related health and safety matters. 


Key Responsibilities
Work Health & Safety (WHS):
  • Develop, implement, and maintain WHS policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks in compliance with legislative requirements. 
  • Conduct safety audits, workplace inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. 
  • Provide WHS training and education to employees and management to promote a culture of safety. 
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring appropriate reporting and corrective measures. 
  • Collaborate with leadership and operational teams to drive continuous improvement in workplace safety. 
  • Monitor and report on key WHS metrics and trends, recommending improvements where necessary. 

Injury Management & Return-to-Work (RTW):
  • Develop and implement injury management strategies to support injured employees in returning to work safely. 
  • Coordinate and oversee the return-to-work process, liaising with employees, managers, medical professionals, and insurers. 
  • Ensure compliance with workers’ compensation legislation and maintain accurate records of claims and injury management activities. 
  • Provide guidance to managers on supporting employees with work-related injuries or illnesses. 
  • Identify opportunities for early intervention and proactive injury prevention measures. 

Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory Support: 
  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on WHS and injury management matters. 
  • Work closely with People and Culture, Training, Quality, Operational teams, and external providers (insurers, medical professionals, regulators) to ensure effective case management. 
  • Facilitate WHS and injury management consultation processes, including Safety Committees and leadership meetings. 
  • Keep up to date with changes in WHS and workers’ compensation legislation and advise on compliance requirements. 

About You

Essential:
  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Human Resources, or a related field. 
  • Certification in Return-to-Work Coordination 
  • Proven experience in WHS management, injury prevention, and return-to-work coordination. 
  • Previous Experience working under an LPR model (NSW) 
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, workers’ compensation laws, and injury management best practices. 
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations. 
  • Ability to develop and deliver WHS training and awareness programs. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse teams. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and solutions-focused approach. 
Desirable: 
  • Experience working in high-risk industries (e.g., healthcare, NDIS). 
  • Knowledge of psychosocial risk management and workplace well-being programs. 
Work Conditions  
  • Office-based with some site visits as required. Ability to travel between sites if needed. 
  • Compliance with company policies and WHS requirements at all times.
