What You'll Be Doing

  • Oversee the preparation of Council’s Annual Financial Statements, Budgets, and Long-Term Financial Plans
  • Coordinate external audits and ensure full compliance with statutory requirements
  • Lead, mentor, and support a small finance team to deliver exceptional results
  • Maintain the integrity of Council’s general ledger, managing end-of-month and end-of-year processes
  • Administer and enhance Council’s financial systems to meet evolving needs
  • Provide expert advice on financial regulations, systems, and best practices
  • Collaborate across departments to support sound forecasting and informed financial decisions
  • Safeguard data integrity with strong internal controls and risk awareness

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Accounting and membership with CPA or CA ANZ
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and local government finance
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, audit coordination, and team leadership
  • Advanced understanding of digital finance systems and a drive for continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills—you can turn complex data into clear, actionable insights
  • A proactive mindset with a sharp eye for accuracy, compliance, and innovation
