What You'll Be Doing
- Oversee the preparation of Council’s Annual Financial Statements, Budgets, and Long-Term Financial Plans
- Coordinate external audits and ensure full compliance with statutory requirements
- Lead, mentor, and support a small finance team to deliver exceptional results
- Maintain the integrity of Council’s general ledger, managing end-of-month and end-of-year processes
- Administer and enhance Council’s financial systems to meet evolving needs
- Provide expert advice on financial regulations, systems, and best practices
- Collaborate across departments to support sound forecasting and informed financial decisions
- Safeguard data integrity with strong internal controls and risk awareness
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in Accounting and membership with CPA or CA ANZ
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and local government finance
- Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, audit coordination, and team leadership
- Advanced understanding of digital finance systems and a drive for continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills—you can turn complex data into clear, actionable insights
